Angus was born in Glasgow (Scotland) on March 31, 1955. He was the youngest of the Young family. When he was two, his family left Scotland to emigrate to distant Australia, specifically Sydney.

He began playing guitar at age nine. He left school at fifteen to start work. It is said that he preferred to work because that way I could buy material for his great love, music.

   His first band was Tantrum. Legend tells us that in that band and made his infamous 'over duck' (duck walk), copy the passage popularized by Chuck Berry (Angus has always declared himself a big fan of Chuck Berry).

It is said that the idea of using a school uniform was his sister. When I was very young, Angus did not have time to take off her school uniform after leaving school. His sister suggested he used his uniform on stage.

Angus Young has always used a Gibson SG. Throughout his career in AC / DC has used the models Standard, Special, and Custom '61 SG Reissue. For recording the album 'Ballbreaker' used a Gibson Les Paul / SG.

The legend explains that his brother Angus and Malcolm began to learn to play guitar in the early 70's age still go to school. During the year 1973 formed a band they called AC / DC. They used to rehearse after school in Angus. It is for this reason that Angus came to the trials still wearing his school uniform (hat, white shirt, tie, jacket, shorts and wallet).

The reality shows that Angus was not in school when he formed AC / DC with his brother Malcolm, therefore, is not true that the school used the suit as he left the school to rehearse. However, it is possible that Angus if he was still at school when he played in one of his previous band AC / DC.

Angus and Malcolm were looking for a staging that impact, along with his music to the public. Margaret, sister of Angus and Malcolm, suggested that the live performances Angus continue wearing the school uniform as a mark of distinction of the band. In the first performances of AC / DC, Angus appeared dressed in a variety of disguises (disguised as a gorilla, Superman, Zorro and Spiderman).
